Ad Valorem Taxes

Not all states have railcar ad valorem taxes. There are about 30 states that do, and some states have a much higher tax rate than others. Here is a tip, California has the highest ad valorem tax rate. Because of this, you may not want to store or ship your owned or net leased railcars in that state.
